- The very end Where channel current is strongest and bait gets pushed through. Deep water (10m+) right at your feet. Every predator in the harbour passes this point. LOOK FOR: Current rip visible as disturbed water, bait schools flicking on the surface.
- The "corner" where breakwall turns Current eddies form where the wall changes angle, creating pockets of calmer water where fish hold to ambush bait swept around the corner. LOOK FOR: Swirling water behind large rocks, bait schooling in the calmer water.
- Ocean-facing side Wave action stirs up baitfish and crustaceans, creating a constant food chain. Protected from the main channel current but exposed to ocean wash. LOOK FOR: White water against rocks, birds hovering, bait nervous on the surface.
